Salsa Magazine Special Series “Integrity 2015”: Millie Puente no puede separarse de la música. Cantar y tocar las congas son parte fundamental en su vida y de la herencia puertorriqueña de sus padres: “Yo creo que en Puerto Rico cantan hasta los perros”, dijo Puente, quien nació en Nueva York hace 48 veranos, pero ahora reside en Tampa. Con dos décadas de carrera musical, ha ofrecido conciertos por todo el mundo: Francia, Alemania, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, China, Japón e Israel, entre otros países. Y ha compartido escenario con Rubén Blades, Celia Cruz y Oscar D’León, entre otros. Conoce a Millie P y todos sus aventuras y giras a través de todo el mundo. Todo para la honra y gloria de Dios. 

Millie Puente is inseparable from her music. Singing and playing the congas is a fundamental part of her life coming from a Puerto Rican heritage. Millie Puente, was born in Broxn New York and resides presently in Tampa Florida. Virgen Milagros is her legal name, although her mothers name is also Milagros but her mother decided to call her “Millie”. Known in music as Millie Puente. She worked for a long time with her uncle, Tito Puente who died in 2000 and he was called the “King of the Timbales”. In 1990 Millie Puente recorded her first album called Tito Puente Presents Millie P. and was nominated Best Album and Best Tropical Music in the American Grammy awards. Tito felt very proud that he was the Producer and Musical Director of Millie Puente first album Millie’s talent was there since child hood. She developed her percussion playing alongside musicians especially next to the great legendary Tito Puente who was her teacher Millie Puente traveled and performed all over the world: France, Germany, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, Peru, Spana, Venezuela, China, Japan, and Israel Canada, los Angeles, among other countries. She shared the stage with Ruben Blades, Celia Cruz, Oscar D’Leon, Santitos Colon, Cheo Feliciano, Jose Alberto El Canario, Orquesta La Luz, Poncho Sanchez Sheli E Pete Escobido Tito Nieves, Ismael Miranda, Mongo Santamaria Sergio Goerge Giovani Hidargo, Tony Vega, Johnny Pacheco, Domingo Quinones. Aside from the music, Millie Puente was in a film called The Mambo Kings in the early 90s, with Antonio Banderas, Armand Lanzante Celia Cruz And legendary Tito Puente with Antonio Banderas, Celia Cruz and Tito Puente.
